Here's how to apply:
We get applications every week from people all over the world. No joke. If you're interested in an internship, you'll need to convince us by submitting a short vid (60 seconds or less) to www.facebook.com/ricviers. If your vid is longer than 60 seconds, we won't bother watching because it will be obvious that you can't follow directions.
Your vid should tell us why you think you have what it takes to intern at the Chop Shop and should give us a sense of your personality. Don't send your resume! Credits do not impress us. Attitudes do.

The deadline for submissions is May 13, 2016. The internship runs from June through August 2016.

Due to the amount of applications we receive, we will not be able to respond to each one. Please, do not contact us asking if you were accepted. If you get accepted, we will let you know.

Note: Your internship will be documented on camera (vids and pics). You will be required to sign a lengthy and complicated release that gives us permission to use your image. Also, you will be required to sign an NDA that states that you cannot disclose certain projects that The Detroit Chop Shop is working on. If you're not willing to do this, don't bother applying.
This internship meets the six guidelines laid out by the Department of Labor:
-
The internship, even though it includes actual operation of the facilities of the employer, is similar to training which would be given in an educational environment.
-
The internship experience is for the benefit of the intern.
-
The intern does not displace regular employees, but works under close supervision of the existing staff.
-
The employer that provides the training derives no immediate advantage from the activities of the intern; and on occasion its operations may actually be impeded.
-
The intern is not necessarily entitled to a job at the conclusion of the internship.
-
The employer and the intern understand that the intern is not entitled to wages for the time spent in the internship.
That's the skinny. Good luck!
